Greetings From France!
The goldfish are more active, the goldfinches are flocking to the feeder, and all the shrubs and trees are fully leafed out (spell-check doesn’t like that spelling—but I’m using it anyway). There’s nothing prettier than a lace-leaf maple with its delicate, intricate leaves and arching branches. Well, the Pieris Japonica bushes are pretty close when the flower clusters appear. The azaleas are glorious when their flowers are at full bloom, too. I love spring flowers and flowering shrubs. I’m planting new jasmine vines next to the pergola at the side of the deck. The plan is they will grow long enough to go across the arch from either side. The fragrance of jasmine is wonderful so I have my fingers crossed that it likes its location.
I’m in France as you read this. I hope I packed all the right clothes for this combination of three days in Geneva, eight days on a riverboat cruise (no formal nights but a dress-up opportunity for the farewell dinner, the brochure says), and then three days on the French riviera. Ooh La La! Our dear friends asked us to join them and it was easy to say yes as we’ve not been to this part of France on previous trips. I wish we were going to be able to pop up to Paris and visit the Notre Dame. It was still closed when we were there two years ago after the big fire.
And did you get to see any of the solar eclipse? Two of my children live on the path of total eclipse but my other daughter and I live in partial eclipse territory. One of my friends actually flew to Louisville Kentucky and rented a rig so he could view it from the Illinois-Indiana border. He’d already seen two eclipses—one in 1999 and one in 2017 when it was close to home in Oregon. I’ve heard of storm chasers…
It’s getting closer to book release time for Killer Wedding. Stay tuned!
Until next time, happy reading!
