Bunny Piper & Rembrandt Got a Makeover 🍂☕️📚

The neighbors celebrate every holiday and season with pizazz! As soon as the huge blow-up witches and goblins are gone, they put up turkeys and pilgrims, soon to be followed by all things Christmas. Others have put up the twelve-foot-tall skeletons that remind me of the walking dead. While I enjoy seeing such things during my drive around town, I wonder where they store all those deflated decorations and dismantled demons.

I’ve been brushing up on calligraphy, which my sister and I learned years ago in a Parks & Recreations class, so I could create some “Weathergrams.” Basically a weathergram is a short Haiku-like phrase (Japanese tanzaku) written on a 10 inch by 2.5 inch strip of brown paper. You then hang this poem in a bush or tree and let it “weather”. Lloyd Reynold, a talented calligraphy teacher, created this method for his students to practice their calligraphy skills.

It’s been fun to make up a short 8-10 word phrase and then use my rusty-but-improving calligraphy skill to transfer it to the paper. I made a few that I took to Japan when I visited a friend there. And they make great bookmarks! I think I’ll make a pile of them to give away at my next book-signing.

And speaking of books, I hope to have at least one of my children’s books (ages 4-8 years) ready for the Christmas market. Bunny Piper is a story I wrote for one of my great-nieces about a bunny who showed up in my backyard a few years ago. Maybe it’ll be one of those unexpected hits on Amazon??

Until next time, happy reading!

Four legendary rock stars. One killer cruise performance.

A southern all-girl band from the ‘80s, The Delta Queens are ready to set the stage on fire aboard the Ovation with their soulful rock ‘n’ roll music. When their tour manager lands them the headlining show on the ship, the ladies seize the opportunity to revive their musical career and grab one last shot at fame and fortune. But there’s one thing standing in the way of their success… murder at high sea.

After a rehearsal session goes awry and a member of the crew is murdered, Doris, Rosemary, Margie, and Patty Sue are caught in the spotlight of possible suspects without an alibi. To make matters worse, the ship’s captain has an unconventional idea about how to best deal with the situation. The ladies don’t want to follow her heartless plan, but if they cross hairs with the captain one more time, it could cost them their careers… or get them thrown overboard.

Read Murder at High Sea for a showstopping murder mystery that will keep you snorting out loud and flying through the pages to figure out whodunit!
