October Wishes
Itâs definitely moved from summer to fall here in the Pacific Northwest. The deciduous trees are showing off their colors of red and orange and yellow now, with shedding of all those leaves to follow. Leaf-blowing season is ready to begin! I just returned (truly, less than 48 hours ago as I wrote this) from 2 weeks in Great Britain and was surprised to see that their geraniums and other tender annuals are still going strong. Turns out that the âgulf effectâ there is warmer than the Japanese currents are here. And they are located further north, like level with Alaska!
This is the season for which I initially wrote Killer Flowers, which starts with the grand re-opening of Christieâs Flower Shoppe just before Halloween. Itâs still getting lots of (good) reviews, for which Iâm grateful. Letâs see if Killer Anniversary, which I released officially on September 4, does the same.
Iâm working on book four in the series now, with all kinds of new ideas that popped into my head as I toured from Edinburgh, Scotland, through Wales (we got drenched the day we toured a thirteenth-century castle) and into England. I loved the Lakes District in western England and the Cotswolds with its thatched rooves. My friend and I did a backstage tour of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre after a quick walkthrough of his home. Just before heading home, we saw Hamilton in a West End Theatre in London with a full house of fellow theatre-goers.
I remain totally impressed that the buildings in those early days were so massive and were created without the benefit of todayâs cranes and other advances. Itâs mind-boggling! And theyâre still standing for our generation to appreciate.
I hope youâll pick up a copy of Killer Anniversary and leave a review at your favorite site. Thank you!
Until next time, happy reading!

It was a great party, until it wasnâtâŚ
Christieâs Flower Shoppe is celebrating its first anniversary and its biggest commission yet: a fiftieth wedding anniversary party that puts Christieâs floral designs in a prestigious social spotlight. But when her extravagant bouquets set the scene for a murder, she finds herself dreading the headlinesâagain.
Luckily, she has a new venture to distract her: a garden landscape sideline with her best friend, Anita. With Christieâs knowledge of flowers and shrubs, and Anitaâs flair for design, the business promises to take Christie beyond her shop walls.
When Anita overhears a shady backyard conversation while on the job, the murder victimâs past falls into their laps. But is this a garden-variety dispute, or a ruthless act of revenge?
