Costumes & Killer Flowers โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŽ„

I never really liked having to wear a costume for Halloween when I was a youngster. Maybe it was having to be the same old witch several years in a row while my younger sister got to be the cute black cat. Thatโ€™s what happens when you grow too tall for the cat costume!

Nowadays I have a collection of fun costumesโ€”Little Red Riding Hood, a Go-go dancer with white boots, a Harem Girl, and Ray from Star Warsโ€”not a witch amongst them! Itโ€™s definitely more fun to dress up and pretend to be someone that Iโ€™m not when I can be one of those characters.

Itโ€™s a little like when Iโ€™m creating characters for my books.ย  Sometimes I use a person I know, or knew at one time, and borrow his or her personality, and/or looks, and something unique that makes him just right to play a part in the story. Basically I put them into a โ€œcostume.โ€

When I wroteย Killer Flowers,ย as an example, I based my character Anita on a real life friend, who continues to be one of those BFFs from high school days. Itโ€™s so much easier to picture her facial expressions and mannerisms, or how she would manage a situation than if I had totally made up this person.

Perhaps youโ€™ll picture someone you know in one of my characters when you pick up a copy of Killer Flowers and read it for yourself.

Until next time, happy reading!
